SONIC GENOME: PART ONE

it is the year 2955, the future era.

Ravaged by a war it cannot hope to survive, the human race has been beaten back to a race of fledglings. As the

Terran Deep Space Authority continues it's hopeless war against the TRIAD; an alien alliance devoted to eradicating the vestiges of humanity from this galexy, a secret operation takes place between the leaders of the Federal Union of Space (The Earth Protectorate) and the Aerospace Science Commision (TASC)-a banished league of mad scientists who have been secretly undertaking an illegal genetics project in the far reaches of space, in a lost science vessel orbiting an uncharted planet-known only to the scientists as Mobius.

When completed, the genetic constructs/Genomes were to be used as more than just soldiers, disposable assets to the war. The mad genetics director, Dr. Robert Cornell Snevley III, plays with the Genome thread even further, giving the constructs incredible powers-such as unbelievable speed and reflexes, a hiddeous strength, and some, even the power to influence gravity and communicate telepathically.

What he creates are the Mobians...

Quick to realize that they are being used as living, breathing Weapons of Mass Destruction, the Mobians grow their impressive intelects beyond the art of killing their enemy in mass quantities, developing a greater appreciation for life, emotions, culture, and even respect for the lives of their enemies. For this reason, Snevley and his mad science team begin to fear their own creations and, when the war is over and the Mobians are granted their Amnesty and their planet, he immediately begins hatching a plan to either imprison the constructs, or destroy them entirely.

Enter Nick Julian: Jonathan's best friend in the TDSA, he is also a mad scientist in secret, along with John and Snevley of the TASC. When Snevley approaches Julian with an offer for a droid army, Julian cannot refuse the opportunity to do something he's always wanted. And after all- if androids can replace human-and Mobian-lives on the battlefield, what is the harm in creating another elicit army?

However, Dr. Snevley's true intentions become evident very quickly. For five years later, a large portion of Julian's own Battle Command take mutiny against him, and Jonathan and Julian witness as their own droid army overwhelm the TDSA and take over Mobius. Meanwhile, Snevley abducts the Mobian Genomes, separating them from their children, and affects a control system over them that seems far more effective than any of Julian's technological gadgets would ever prove: If the constructs ever want to see their children again, they will help Dr. Snevley usurp the TDSA to eradicate every last vestige of the TRIAD.

Splitting up, Julian heads for the TASC orbital headquarters orbiting Mobius with his loyal remains of the TDSA to "reason" with Snevley. Meanwhile, Jonathan searches the Synex quadrant for the abducted Mobian offspring.

What Julian finds is a sinister control struggle between Snevley, the President, and the TRIAD resulting in a three way war that the Mobian Genomes are caught in the middle of. What Jonathan finds is Julian's machinations taken to an insane level: a planet of machines (Cybron Mech-Net) and a heinous prison experiment on the Genome children to enhance their powers!

During an "incident"; which is no accident, as Julian gets into the systems control of the TASC science vessel and disengages the safety protocol on the Genomes' chaos abilities, the Mobian Genomes break free of their restraints and begin a violent uprising against their human captors. In the confusion, Julian detonates the ships engines and executes Dr. Snevley before escaping.

Meanwhile, a final battle between the TDSA, Snevley's TDSA, and the TRIAD's new ORBITAL MEGA DROID (That's the same machine that becomes the death egg in the next chapter) erupts in Earth's Orbit! The Mobian Constructs intervene one last time-this time, on noone's behalf! destroying the OMD, Snevley's renegade battle command, and storming the president's Battle Frigate, the Mobians force all three sides to surrender, and propose a truce: literally, at gun point!

At the same time, Jonathan compromises the Cybron security system, and creates his own Genome uprising. Re-programing the station defense droids to attack the human occupants, Jonathan breaks in and frees the kiddies in the chaos. during the incident, a great underground structure, full of machines, launches into deep space before Jonathan can stop it-unaware, of course, that this complex will be later known as Dr. Robotnick's deep space fortress-and thus triggers the Mech-Net for self destruct. Now Jonathan has only two hours to go back, find Sonic and Shadow, and escape with their lives before the planet blows to smithereens!

SONIC GENOME: PART TWO

"Mobius War"

The year 2975 of the future era

FIFTEEN YEARS LATER...

After the final end of the triad wars, the Mobians (and Jonathan, who was 'banished' by the TDSA for his involvment in the Genome project) were finally granted their birthright: the paradise planet Mobius. They were dropped down on the planet, waved a less-than-warm goodbye, and would never have to see humans again.

Ten years later, however, the TDSA warfleet returned to Mobius. Under heavy pressure from the Earth Protectorate body, X-President Wilson and Admiral Julian return to Mobius... to destroy, enslave, or otherwise ensure the control of the Mobian Genomes. Fearing the Genomes' incredible powers, the TDSA send nearly all of their rescources to conquer, or even destroy Mobius.

Due to the Mobians' reluctance to actually kill human beings, their devastation of the planet begins, and ends, rather quickly. The former Protectorate Leader has the Genomes processed, and Julian becomes the martial judicator of Mobius, establishing their own society on the planet.

But Julian gets two wrenches in his gears. One is Jonathan, who's determination seems to be to free the Mobians from their masters in addition to thwarting Julian's power schemes. The other is Sonic, one of the more rebellious Mobians, who storms a shipyard, steals his own Battle Command, and frees enough Mobians himself to create a team of Mobian rebels insistant upon striking at Julian's headquarters and machine factories and driving ever closer to Julian's Mech-Net creation: Deep Space Fortress Necronomican.

That last one puts Julian over the edge. Madly driven to kill the Mobian rebels, or the Avengers as they are called, Julian pours all of his rescources into destroying the Aerial fortresses that the Mobians have constructed:

flying fortresses surrounded not only by concusion shields, but by EMP signal barriers developed by the highly competent Mobian technicians. With the power to destroy any machine that closes in on them, these flying "safe houses" spell Migranes and Agitation for Julian and his droid army.

Sensing that Julian's plans have failed, and that Julian himself is nothing more than a mad quack, Wilson relieves Julian of his command AND his droid army. Julian simply reacts by assasinating the X-President and, with the aid of his insipid little twerp nephew Snyde Snevley (Yes, son of Robert from Genomes part 1), proceeds to take over the world and indeed attack both the TDSA AND the Avengers with his incredible droid army. As Jonathan, Sonic, and Shadow make their getaway in the confusion, Julian becomes Emperor of Mobius over night.

Meanwhile, Julian's daughter also escapes him-fleeing the Fortress with a slave and Snevley's own Genome creation, Miles Prower. Seeking refuge with pirate renegades, she begins formulating a plan to try to reason with her father. Instead, the entire crew end up running into Sonic and his renegade Avengers as they flee the hellish destruction caused by Julians mad power trip. The good guys are all assembled-it's time to get the bad guys.

This proves easier said then done. Two years later, Sonic and his Avengers have made little advancement toward destroying Julian's evil army. And Julian has made just as much progress in destroying the Mobian safe colonies. And in the meantime, Julian has been working on a new invention, quite possibly his most horrible attrocity, to augment his droid armies: the Roboticizer...

However, assuming that the Mobians have been beaten back in this long stalemate, Julian lets his guard down. And this is when all hell breaks loose. The Avengers organize a strike against Julians space fortress when it is relatively unguarded. Alicia sneaks off Omicron-9 and heads to Necronomican ahead of Sonic to try to reason with Julian before the upheaval begins. Instead, in his madness, Julian ends up killing his own daughter! The Mobians attack and, while Sonic and the Avengers are destroying Julian's machines, Jonathan confronts Julian himself... and murders him.

Appearing to surrender, Snyde Snevley and the remaining droid armies of the Necronomican escape the assault.

Jonathan is banished from the Mobian Alliance-he murdered Julian who was unarmed at the time. The Mobians have a philosophy: when one murders another, that deed will come back to haunt him...and everyone else.

Ten years later, that philosophy proves more than a myth. Snevley, while keeping the Mobians at bay with his Uncles droid armies, has been working on two cute little pet science projects: Re-animating his fallen Uncle with the Roboticizer, and re-creating his generouse cousin with the same data that was used to create the Mobians.

His results: Dr. Ivak Robotnick Omega, a half-human undead cyborg with the intent of destroying every last living thing in the universe, and Alicia Lynneth Julian, a cloned construct with a heart of evil that concures.

Developing a weapon based on the technology of the TRIAD robotics experts that tried to destroy the Earth, Dr. Ivak Robotnick begins construction on an Orbital Mega Droid that the Mobians call "The Death Egg". Stealing the Chaos emeralds from the Mobian leaders' fallen fortress, Robotnick gives his machine enough power to destroy a planet. Intolerant of the Mobian's resistance to him, he prepares a plan to lay waste to the incredible planet below.

Despite the Mobian's efforts, Dr. Robotnick's weapon is fired... and the planet that the Mobians called home for so long dies. The Avengers respond by destroying the Death Egg, thus disabling Robotnick's ability to destroy the next world. In a less than gracious offer, Robotnick offers to "Let the Mobians Go"-let them die slowly, but at least -freely-, in space as he goes now to conquer the next race: mankind. Unable and certainly unwilling to comply, the Mobian remnant-only approx. 5,500 out of more than 100,000 Mobians-prepare to follow Robotnick to the Earth, where they will make their final stand...

SONIC GENOME: PART THREE

"EARTH WARS"

The year 2995 of the future era

AND THEN THERE WAS EARTH...

Fourty years after the first Genome war, the humans of Earth have forgotten the terrible attrocities of the TDSA,

secluded on their home planet in the corners of space. However, humanity's past is about to haunt them once again, as Dr. Robotnick's deep space fortress finds the planet Earth, followed only by the Mobian remnant. The Mobians, seeing that Dr. Robotnick will lay waste to this planet the same way he did theirs, organize immediately to

fight back at Robotnick's machine army which has, in the past years since his "tranformation" grown far more impressive than Julian's ever was.

As Robotnick ravages the planet, resistance against him seems pitifull at best. Even the Mobian Avengers, who scramble to take in the human survivors of Robotnick's war, seem to pose little threat to him. But when Sonic rescues a young boy with a familiar face, Sonic recruits a new hero that might just prove to be a kindred spirit: the boy is Jonathan's estranged son. Separated from his father before he was born, Billy's abilities are quickly recognized by Sonic, and he is initiated as an Avenger.

That isn't to say that Billy isn't selfish-he is a human after all. Billy fights, mostly, to protect the life that he loved, and his girlfriend. When Dr. Robotnick discovers Billy's true identity, he becomes driven to destroy the teenager-the son of his murderer is possibly an even greater threat than Sonic himself.

Meanwhile, the mad doc begins construction on an all new, and even more fearsome, Orbital Mega Droid. sensing that the resistance of Mobius is repeating itself, Dr. Robotnick uses the world's nuclear weapons to power his new OMD to destroy the Earth. With not a moment to loose the Avengers organize an all out offensive against the Mech Lord's new weapon. Meanwhile, Sonic and Billy actually penetrate the OMD's depths to destroy her from the inside out: Dr Robotnick himself is actually present on the Death Egg...

An incident occurs, and Sonic ends up fighting Ivak Robotnick alone. With moments left, Billy races to get his friend and mentor out of the machine before it is destroyed. However, in a determined battle to destroy each other, Robotnick and Sonic-two life long adversaries, whose entire existence have been a battle against each other-have a final clash... and Sonic, captain of the Avengers, falls.

With hardly any time to mourn him or grow accustomed to his new responsibility as Captain of the Avengers, Billy becomes humanity's last hope. Dr. Robotnick, enraged by the fall of his OMD, strikes out with terrible power and vengeance, his order: Kill every last Mobian Robotnick perceives that it is the Mobians who representthe binding force between his enemies, and as long as they live they will be a threat. Using a new weapon that cancels out the Mobian EMP signals, Dr. Robotnick lays waste to the Aerial Colonies and destroys the Mobian leader-effectively crushing the Mobian alliance.

And yet, even after Robotnick hunts the Mobians nearly to extinction, they continue to resist him. Now striking back from roaming ships that Robotnick cannot find, the Mobian Avengers are cut off. sensing that the end is near,

Kat uses the Vendetta, flagship of the Mobian Alliance to destroy the EM phase Array in space. Expecting that this will be her final end, she rams the Vendetta into the Orbital-0 space station. However, fighting to the bitter end, the Avengers take Orbital-0 and turn it into a base of operations against Robotnick in space.

On Earth, Billy discovers a Mobian shelter where, in fact, the final remnants of the Alliance have been operating. Joining the Avengers, the Survivors prepare to face Robotnick's ultimate attack, combining all of his forces into one attack, on the gambit that this will be his final fight.

During the upheaval, however, Shanna (Billy's girlfriend) takes the dark chaos emerald from the undergroudn sanctuary of the secret shelter. Assimilating it's dreadful power, Shanna looses control and destroys the Deep Space Fortress herself. Feeling that she can end this war by herself with her newfound distructive power, Shanna terrorizes Robotnick and his war machines, as the dark emerald twists and contorts Shanna's heart to evil.

Billy confronts Shanna, but in a trap set by Robotnick and Snyde Snevley, she is captured-and so is the dark chaos. The dark emerald has unbelievable power-it is the power of the prototype genome and thus has the destructive capability of rendering the entire planet Earth lifeless. Dr. Robotnick immediately harnesses the Dark Chaos Emerald into a new weapon for his orbital space station. Billy, seeing that there is no way that he'll ever break Shanna free by himself, breaks into the Chaos sanctuary...and steals the emerald containing Sonic's power.

On Earth, the human heroes are transformed by their new powers. Billy and Shanna work together to bring down Robotnicks power on Earth. In space, the two Orbital space fortresses get ready for a showdown that will determine the fate of the universe. And behind the fray, Robotnick awaits to battle his final foe. In the final war, two sides are, despite their heavy losses, equally determined to achieve their ideals; and one way or another, a peace awaits the end of the struggle...

This story is an ongoing work of sci-fi fantasy/cross-fanfiction that I have begun writing as a series of mid-length novels. A Sonic fiction, it's understandable that some may not be able to appreciate that one would put an idea this big into a fan-fiction: Fanfictions are supposed to be short, 20-page-max tales about the hero of a game dashing out and doing the same thing he always does, beating the same enemy over again. Some more creative fan writers make up a new enemy for your favorite character to fight, or a new hero of similar type to the one you're used to reading about/playing/ drawing. I have yet to see anyone warp the original universe as much as I have, so as to make a story that is almost NOT a fanfiction, but who knows? Maybe I'll at least start seeing better Sonic Fanfiction someday than "The Quest for Helium"?
